Associate Director - Cardiac Disease

The position

Your responsibility will be to provide line management, scientific and commercial leadership in iPSC-derived cell differentiation, production and application, with a focus on cardiac drug discovery.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, client-oriented, results-driven, has an established track record of knowledge in stem cell and cardiac research, has proven experience in line management and drug discovery leadership.

Responsibilities

  • To lead, manage and develop the staff in the section, and contribute to their training, motivation and appraisal to ensure an effective team. And to ensure that all staff in the section are fully acquainted and comply with quality procedures, laboratory safety practice, biosafety practice according to the Company's Health and Safety Policy.
  • To acquire new contract research programs together with commercial and scientific team. Lead the design of project proposals that address customer requests. Communicate technical/scientific aspects with clients (in all phases of a project: design/preparation, execution, reporting)
  • To contribute directly to client projects, ensuring that all aspects of a project carried out in their section or by their project team meet with the project objectives, quality standards and budget. And to provide scientific leadership in stem cell-based projects for clients, with focus on cardiac biology
  • To be up to date with scientific literature and maintain knowledge concerning relevant new research and new technologies within Ncardia’s scientific fields, in particular cardiac drug discovery and safety.
  • To drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. Including development and implementation of process improvements to efficiently generate high quality data
  • Contribute to or lead scientific presentations and collaboration with internal stakeholders and clients
  • Support a collaborative work environment, motivate other project team members to ensure sound technical, scientific, and commercial decision making

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in life sciences or equivalent experience, in stem cell cardiac biology or related discipline
  • 5-10 years of experience in a Life Sciences/Biotech company, preferably a CRO, and knowledgeable about the drug discovery process
  • Experience with leading staff (line management) and project teams and an ability to motivate team members
  • Proven track record with stem cells, their differentiation, and application in assay development and disease modeling
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask and contribute to multiple projects within timelines
  • Excellent reporting and documentation skills, affinity with data analyses and data presentation
  • Ability to work effectively in a project-based manner (according to defined timelines, budget, and milestones) within a global team
  • Good writing and oral communication skills in English
  • Experience with Intellectual Property and Quality Management Systems is a plus
