Job Description

The Cell Manufacturing Technician is a laboratory-based role which will involve all aspects of client projects for process development, custom manufacturing and characterization of iPSC-derived cells under supervision of subject matter experts. Activities include advanced stem cell culture, state of the art stem cell differentiation processes, down-stream processing and being co-responsible for laboratory activities during week-ends and public holidays. 

Responsibilities

  • Perform state of the art cell culture techniques in the field of human stem cell maintenance

  • Perform custom production (adherent culture or bioreactor-based) and cryopreservation of functional iPSC-derived cell types

  • Execute studies for the development of novel iPSC-derived cell types

  • Perform in process analyses during cell production

  • Perform cell-based assays for functional characterization of differentiated cells

  • Support routine lab activities such as solution stock keeping and equipment maintenance

  • Perform week-end work incidentally if needed

  • Collect and record data accurately following standard operation procedures

  • Propose solutions and participate in investigations whenever needed 

Required experience

  • Vocational Education and Training (MBO) or bachelor degree in (applied) biological science or related domains

  • Demonstrated practical experience in cell culture techniques is a requirement (such as, maintenance of cell lines, cryopreservation, cell counting, media preparation, aseptic techniques)

  • Experience with stem cells is a plus

  • Experience with flow cytometry/immunofluorescence/cell-based assays is a plus

  • Experience with stirred-tank bioreactors is a plus
