Ncardia develops, produces, and commercializes highly predictive human cardiovascular and neurological cellular assay systems. In addition, Ncardia develops and provides its customers with a broad portfolio of services from cardiovascular and neuronal disease modeling to target discovery and validation, primary or secondary drug screening, hit to lead and lead optimization, safety assessment, and pre-clinical patient stratification.

Job Description

Your responsibility will be to provide scientific leadership in iPSC-derived cell differentiation, with an initial focus on cardiac drug discovery.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, client-oriented, results-driven, has an established track record of knowledge in stem cell and cardiac research, has proven experience in scientific leadership and is willing to broaden her/his expertise in other disease areas. The preferred candidate has a desire to work in a team, in a laboratory, including occasional cell maintenance during the weekend.

Responsibilities

  • Provide scientific leadership in stem cell-based projects for clients, with an initial focus on cardiac biology

  • Develop and implement process improvements and generate high quality analytical readouts to optimize and characterize iPSC differentiation processes and/or final cell product

  • Execute projects according to defined timelines, budget, and milestones

  • Coordinate work with project team members

  • Provide scientific background and feedback on results to the project team

  • Ensure accurate internal data reporting

  • Generate scientific proposals to resolve key technical hurdles

  • Be up to date with scientific literature and maintain knowledge concerning relevant new research and new technologies within Ncardia’s scientific field

  • Contribute to or lead scientific presentations and collaboration with internal stakeholders and clients

  • Support a collaborative work environment, motivate other project team members to ensure sound technical, scientific, and commercial decision making

  • Support the design of project proposals that address customer requests. Communicate technical/scientific aspects with clients (in all phases of a project: design/preparation, execution, reporting)

  • Be up to date with scientific literature and maintain knowledge concerning relevant new research and new technologies within Ncardia’s scientific field

  • Establish project documentation (e.g., SOPs, Work Instructions, Records, Study Report)

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in life sciences, (developmental) cardiac biology or related discipline

  • 2-5 years of experience in a Life Sciences/Biotech company or CRO and knowledgeable about the drug discovery process

  • Experience with working in project teams and an ability to motivate team members

  • Proven track record with stem cells and their differentiation, affinity with assay development and disease modeling

  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask and contribute to multiple projects within timelines

  • Excellent reporting and documentation skills, affinity with data analyses and data presentation

  • Ability to work effectively in a project-based manner (according to defined timelines, budget, and milestones) within a global team

  • Good writing and oral communication skills in English

  • Affinity with Intellectual Property and Quality Management Systems is a plus
